Ben Hiney, Founder of Tombo Transformations

Founder of Tombo Transformations and certified KonMari Method® Consultant. After transforming my own home using the KonMari Method®, I became a certified consultant and was honored to be listed on the official KonMari Method® site. I came to this work through my own journey with anxiety and overwhelm. Rebuilding my home helped me rebuild my life. Now, I help others find calm through clarity — one drawer, one shelf, one room at a time.

Why 'Tombo'?

Tombo means 'dragonfly' in Japanese — a symbol of transformation and lightness. It's what I hope to bring into every space I enter. As a Certified KonMari Method® Consultant based in Vancouver, Washington, I bring the authentic Method to clients throughout the Pacific Northwest and virtually nationwide.

The KonMari Method®

The KonMari Method® is a simple but effective tidying method, ensuring you will never again relapse to clutter. It uses a unique selection criterion – choosing what sparks joy! You are not choosing what to discard but rather choosing to keep only the items that speak to your heart. Through tidying, you can reset your life and spend the rest of your life surrounded by the people and things that you love the most.

6 Rules of the KonMari Method®

  1. Commit yourself to tidying up
  2. Imagine your ideal lifestyle
  3. Finish discarding first
  4. Tidy by category, not by location
  5. Follow the right order:
    • Clothing
    • Books
    • Paper
    • Komono
    • Sentimental items
  6. Ask yourself if it sparks joy

Why Tidy?

Tidying is a powerful tool, but it's not the destination. The true goal of tidying is to clear away clutter so you can live the life you want. When you put your house in order using the KonMari Method™, you have no choice but to listen to your inner voice – because the question of what you want to own is actually the question of how you want to live your life. When you reassess your belongings and organize your home, you set the stage for a huge transformation. This is the magic of tidying!
